Eggebek Airday

Article Index

90 years of german naval aviation and 45 years Marinefliegergeschwader (MFG) 2
...these have been the two anniversaries and main themes for the Eggebek Airday, the only open doors day of the German Air Force (GAF)/ Navy this year.
The organizers did an excellent job in inviting a good bunch of foreign aircraft for the show which resulted in a lot of nice visitors for the static and flight display and have been rewarded by about 80.000 visitors for their open doors day.

Seaking AzWhere? Eggebek - Germany
When? 24/08/2003

Atlantic StaticThe flight display has also been very good for an 'Open Doors Day' in Germany. As Eggebk is a Navy base, there have been all the Navy aircraft in the air: the Westland Sea King, the Sea Lynx, Dornier Do 228, Breguet Atlantic and their Tornados. The Air Force showed their C-160 Transall and the F-4F Phantom in flight. The most awaited item in the flight display, the MiG-29, had to stay on the ground for reasons that I do not want to mention here. It really is a shame that this wonderful plane has not been presented to the public on the last possible occasion before they are going to Poland…
