Mix a huge number of vintage aircraft, a lovely scenery in southern Germany, the best September weather and you will have all the ingredients for a successful Airshow. The Hahnweide Show, Germany's big meeting of historic aircraft, achieved it once again to fascinate thousands of visitors with all the unique aircraft they brought together at the airfield at Kirchheim/Teck. on September, 10th-11th.

Of course a lot of people came to see the Bf 109 of the Messerschmitt Stiftung, which flew in from Manching together with the Bf 108. Further attractions were the Spitfire Mk XIX and a F4U-4 Corsair from France, as well as a T-28 Fennec. More Warbirds were present as well in the form of several Yak-11 and Yak-3s, but the visitors were also pleased to see all those colourful biplanes like the Boeing Stearmans,Tighermoths, Bückers or Stampes.
Remarkably was also the presence of 4 Antonov An-2 on the airfield and, of course, the very rare and unforgettable formation overflight of five Junkers Ju-52 on Friday, led by the Lufthansa Ju-52 D-AQUI and followed by all the 4 Junkers of the Swiss Ju-Air. With more than 200 aircraft present at the Hahnweide it is of course impossible for me to mention all of them, but what I am still remembering is the DHC 1Chipmunk in elegant Lufthansa colours, the strange sound of the piston engine powered Sikorsky S-58 helicopter andthe impressive glider flight displays. Amongst others, of course ;)
The fascinated crowd appreciated all of the flight displays very well and always gave a nice applause for the pilots, regardless if it was a powerful warbird or a gracile glider, adding a lot to the fabulous atmosphere at the Hahnweide!
The combination of moderate entry fees (15EUR per day, 20EUR Fri-Sun, beer 2,50EUR ;)), a good moderation and nice parties in the evening leaves no doubt to me to know where I will be on the first week-end in September, 2007.
Thank you very much to everyone at the Hahnweide for their great job, the organization beforehand, everyone looking for the guests and the press, the drivers, the busy vrew on the tower and everyone else I forgot to mention!
