Where? Zeltweg - Austria When? 24-25/06/2005
Of course I could not miss the show that year as well. The main reason to attend was the fact, that it was the last public appearance of the Saab Draken, which will be withdrawn from service at the end of 2005.
Traditionally the first act of the Airpower05 was a small helicopter parade and afterwards in the morning mostly light aircraft and warbirds were presented. Following this fly-by there was action in the air throughout the day. Of course you could get annoyed by several display teams, if you already knew their routines. One big personal highlight for me among them were the 'Asas de Portugal' with their two Alpha Jets and tight and perfect formation flying! The jet displays were represented by the usual F-16, Hornet and Eurofighter displays, but dominated by the Hungarian MiG-29, which showed two Cobra maneuvers during its display.
