The airshow at Plasy was my personal season opening airshow in 2009. Located north of Plzen, Czech Republic, it offered a good reason to go for one day not mainly due to the flying program, but also due to the other specialities that this part of the Czech Republic has to offer.
Where? Plasy, Czech Republic When? 01-02/05/2009
The airshow was held on May, 1st & 2nd and also announced the participation of aircraft of the Czech Armed Forces. Unfortunately this was only the case on the first day wit t a Mi-24 being present and overflights of an L-39 and two Saab JAS-39 Gripen. With May, 1st being also Labour Day in the Czech Republic, I wondered a bit why the Air Force did not come on the following Saturday. And also this was not announced on their website.

Well, anyway the program was only to last from 2-4pm with some local acts flying and a visit from the German wing-walking Lady Peggy Krainz . Unfortunately I could not have a beer due to the strict traffic rules in the Czech Republic but instead had a look at the nearby Air Park in Zruc.
It offers an extensive collection of Russian and Czech-built military and civil aircraft, but unfortunately they are not kept in good condition and are very difficult to photograph. But if you pass Plzen the next time on your way to Prague, you should definitely stop there. And have a look at the famous breweries afterwards.
