Hokkaido, Japan's Northern island, is a special experience and cannot really be compared with the rest of Japan. Vast landscapes and scenic mountain ranges prevail instead of megacities and densly populated areas. And in the winter months this experience is even more exciting! Birds of all species populate the air, and Chitose's International Airport is busy with winter operations, assuring the safe handling of civil and military air traffic alike.

Greece currently scores big headlines due to the financial crises, but to find out its effects was not the purpose of this year's trip to the Peloponnese, visiting the F-16 Fighting Falcons and A-7 Corsairs at Araxos as well as Andravida's F-4E Phantoms. Nice spring weather and the Greek hospitality made the trip very worthwhile and resulted in some nice images.

Night flying is an essential part in the training of every jet pilot, and the ground crews as well. To lessen the noise disturbance in the neighbouring communities, the Luftwaffe conducts night flying training and operations only in the winter season when the dawn already starts at around 5pm. With around 10 jets flying in the afternoon and during the night period again this was quite a busy day with plenty of photo opportunities.

A large veil of secrecy lies above the Israeli Air Force (IAF – or Heyl Ha'Avir). The air arm is combat proven at an extremly high degree, but due to the sensitivity of their operations only very few information is being spread. So we met on a nice and warm summer afternoon at the airfield and briefed the flight.
