 Where? Brno - Czech Republic
When? 06-07/09/2003

The 10th edition of the Czech International Air Fest (CIAF 2003) was exceptionally not  held at the military airfield of Hradec-Kralove but at the civil airport Brno. There have been a lot of roumors and different reasons reasons have been mentioned for this action, but I will not continue to speculate about it. The fact that no Czech MiG-21 neither opened the flight display as previously had been announced nor one could be seen in the static display speaks for itself as well as for the condition and the problems of the airforces of the former Warsaw Pact.

Another big announcement in the programm have been the the four Su-27 of the Russian Knights, which also did not appear due to the same reason why Suchoi does not send its aircraft to Paris or Farnborough… You might think now 'well, he must really have been dissapointed there after an 6hrs drive', but I haven't as I always enjoy the (airshow) atmosphere in the Czech Republic and there have also been many many highlights:

THE great surprise has been the Canadian Tiger Hornet of the 410sqn. 'Cougars' that crossed only for this show the Atlantic together with a two seater wearing ' Centennial of flight / Centenaire de l'aviation' markings on the tail . I have been really puzzled when I saw these birds, but when I asked a crew member about the Tiger, he told me: 'we have been invited to this show and for the flight display, and if we are invited we are bringing our baby!'. 10 out of 10 points for the Canadian Air Force. Let's all hope that they will do that more often in the future!!

Oshkosh EAA Airventure 2017 airshow report and photos
Where? Oshkosh WI, USA
When? 24-30/07/2017

The EAA Airventure 2017 was announced to be the bomber year! And it really became bombastic. 590.000 people attended the event in Oshkosh, celebrating the 75th anniversary of the Doolittle Raid and also saw for the first time in more than 60 years two B-29 Superfortresses flying in formation. Apart from that once again more than 10.000 aircraft flew to Wittman Regional Airport in Oshkosh, Wisconsin, making it at that time the busiest airport in the world with approximately 123 aircraft movements per hour. For the pilots it was once again the great fly-in, and the highlight for the airshow this year were the US Navy Blue Angels.

Osan Airpower Day 2011

The Osan Airpower Day 2011 must have left mixed emotions amongst many of the visitors. On one hand people enthusiastically did give applause for the aerial demonstrations, but on the other hand strict security measures did leave many people disappointed - mainly those who invested quite some efforts to come to South Korea to attend this event.

Where? Eichstätt, Bavaria, Germany
When? October 2016

The DG Flugzeugbau DG-800S is a high performance single-seat glider with an impressive wingspan of 18m and a maximum glide ratio of 51,5 with winglets installed. As for comparable gliders it becomes obvious from a first sight that pure aerodynamics and esthetics are combined in these kind of aircraft. Time to go for a nice photo session with such an engineering piece of art!
