50 Jahre LTG61

Uk English summary:

What has been originally announced as a really good airshow including a mixed flight display of historic and modern aircraft. Even DOGMA (Demonstration of German Military Airpower) was promoted on the official homepage until shortly before the show, when the whole flying was suddenly cut down. In the end only the Penzing based aircraft (Bell UH-1D and Transall) were allowed to fly by the highest Luftwaffe command.

In addition to this heavy rain hit the region and flooded the foreseen parking places, so that due to this the event was cancelled by the District Administration, though the emergency services did not see that many problems with that situation. The decision to cancel the show was then quickly spread over the internet and on the radio.

Of course the Squadron was not happy at all about that and changed on short notice the "Flugtag" (air show) to a "Familientag" (Families Day) with no flying display. So everyone who came despite the air show cancellation on a splendid sunny Saturday was allowed on base and to park on the airfield's runway. Despite the airfield being open I decided not to go on Saturday, but attended the fly-out on the Monday after, when all the photos shown on this page were taken.

Despite all the changes cancellations the LTG61 organized a nice event, though it is really a shame to see how badly pranks were played on them. Considering their daily hard work during disaster reliefs and in worldwide crisis region a more troublefree event would have been fair enough to them.
