The Czech International Air Fest (CIAF) usually marks each year the end of my personal airshow season, the CIAF 2006 being no exception for that. After a personal calm and not always photographically successful 2006 a warm and sunny week-end in Brno forgiving provided a forgiving completion of this year.

Ciaf 2006Where? Brno-Turany Airport, Czech Republic
When? 02.-03./09/2006

TigerKitsThe main reason for this was that the flying was once again really special and varied in contrast to a lot of the other shows on the continent. In the morning from 8 to 11 there was some time to have a look at the static display, talk to the pilots, drink a beer, buy some sausages or to have a look at some model kits.
The flying started at 11am with a formation fly-by of the Czech Air Force (CzAF) that fortunately supported the CIAF a lot more with their participation than before.

This great mix on show at Ellington Airport in the South of Houston was enriched by aerobatic acts and the USAF Thunderbirds. With a 34-year long history the airshow is still very much alive and kicking!

Do-24 ATT Flying Boat

(Reading time: 1 - 2 minutes)

In September 2004 I have had the exclusive opportunity to do an air-air photo shoot with the Do-24 ATT which was staying in Oberpfaffenhofen (near Munich) at that time. Iren Dornier was keen on getting some photos of his aircraft in front of the stunning scenery of the German Alps. So we met on a nice and warm summer afternoon at the airfield and briefed the flight.
