Airday 2006 - Static Display

Article Index

The show day itself started with splendid sunshine and a clear blue sky with only some clouds, what I used once more to take more or missed photos of the static display. At 10am the flight display started and the parachutist used the last pieces of blue sky for their demonstration.
NassShortly afterwards an Austrian PC-6 and PC-7 performed under a grey sky and just in time for the take-off of the three Marineflieger Atlantics and one Orion the rain started. Fortunately the 4-ship formation was able to perform and so did the solo Atlantic. Still during the morning 3 different versions of the Sea Lynx (equipped either with a gun, Sea Skuas or a sonar buoy) were shown and one more helicopter presented a solo display. Shortly afterwards heavy rain showers hit the airfield and the flying in the morning was cancelled.
1104710And so was the rest of the day, because after the lunch break from midday until 2pm the situation did not improve. The Aurora was planned to fly and has for this reason already been towed out of the static display, but it did not move. Later a German Orion lined up on the runway as well, but then rolled only down the runway and taxied back to its parking position. At around 3pm it was finally announced that the flying was cancelled and when they said that a parking is going to be flooded a lot of the people decided to finally leave the show and rescue their cars before the parking places become completely muddy.
