Of course aircraft belong into the air, and despite bad weather the flying presentation during the opening ceremony in front of President Nursultan Nasarbajew was stunning.

It did start with a ground show of tanks and other military vehicles in combination with some helicopter flying such as fast-roping or a flag parade.

In parallel two MiG-29 did take off, but when suddenly out of nowhere two smoke-trailing black dots appeared and could be identified as a close formation of MiG-31, all that remained after that sole fly-by followed by a pull-up in full afterburner was sheer excitement!

Wings over Houston Airshow

Wings over Houston 2017 was an awesome airshow! Plenty of warbirds, a Messerschmitt Me 262, jets from the Vietnam era, amongst them the venerable F-4D Phantom II, made up for a great program. This great mix on show at Ellington Airport in the South of Houston was enriched by aerobatic acts and the USAF Thunderbirds. With a 34-year long history the airshow is still very much alive and kicking!

Africa Aerospace & Defence 2014

African Aerospace and Defence (AAD) is cited as being Africa’s premier air, sea and land defence exhibition. The 2014 edition was set to be the biggest in its 14 year history, when it opened its doors from 17 – 21 September at Waterkloof Air Force Base in Pretoria. Irrespectively of what has been announced, AAD it is a great opportunity to see the South African Air Force (SAAF) live and in action.

DG-800S Glider

The DG Flugzeugbau DG-800S is a high performance single-seat glider with an impressive wingspan of 18m and a maximum glide ratio of 51,5 with winglets installed. As for comparable gliders it becomes obvious from a first sight that pure aerodynamics and esthetics are combined in these kind of aircraft. Time to go for a nice photo session with such an engineering piece of art!
