Alpine Base Meiringen offers a gorgeous setting The airfield is nestled in a small valley in central Switzerland in the canton of Bern. Surrounded by mountains that partly rise up vertically for several hundred meters it is challenging flying terrain, but provides plenty of photo opportunities. Meiringen is the home of the Swiss Air Force's Fliegerstaffel 11 "Tigers", one of Switzerland three F/A-18 Hornet Squadrons, and is also home to the militia Squadron 8 "Destructors" ("Vandalos"), flying the F-5E Tiger II.Read more ...

The sky was crying tears for the Phantom Pharewell event at Wittmund airbase. With initially nearly winter weather the last week-end in June was the date for the officially last days of Luftwaffe F-4F Phantom operations and celebrated with an Open Doors day.Read more ...
On a very nice summer day in 2006 I had the opportunity to have a nice photoflight with the Piper Cub D-EJGI.
After a long day of work getting up in the air was a very nice way to end the day, therefore we met with Hans, who was going to be my pilot on this flight, not very long before sunset. After the preparation of both aircraft we made our briefing, talked about safety, formations, flying directions before taking off from Manching.
