Static DisplayThe static display at NLD was rather small, and would have been nearly non-existing without the Museum Aircraft of the nearby Piestany Aircraft Museum. A Slovak MiG-29UB(S) to sit in as well as a L-39 of the host nation together with a L-159B, Gripen and Mi-171 from the Czech Republic together with one Hungarian L-39 were the only active military aircraft. The rest of the exhibition was filled up with a static MiG-21, Su-22. L-410 and some helicopters.

At the end of the day a walk through the nearby museum, which is highly recommended, was still possible as it was part of the show during this week-end and provided a good number of MiG-21 and many more 'eastern' aircraft.

VERDICT
good beer and tasty food!!As my expectations were not too high with the small participation list in mind the show provided some excellent opportunities to photograph Slovak Air Force aircraft and to enjoy the excellent atmosphere of a 'typical' Eastern European show, including some good flying, tasty food and excellent beer. It remains to hope that the National Air Day will become more International in the future, the airfield at least leaves enough room for it!
