Meiringen in a rush

This was a short trip to Meiringen Airbase in central Switzerland at the beginning of February 2025. The main motivation for this trip was a rather long winter break without any kind of aviation photography and the published schedule for F-5 Tiger II operations out of Meiringen.

The Tigers were supposed to operate at Meiringen for a period of three weeks and should act as aerial targets for the Meringen-based F/A-18C/D Hornets of Fliegerstaffel 11.

And as not many Swiss Tigers are left and will only remain operational in Switzerland until the end of 2027, the decision for the tour to Meiringen was quickly made.
Obviously, the trip would not be as fruitful as others when Tigers were still part of the active Swiss Air Force Squadrons at Meiringen. But this time unfortunately and for unforeseen reasons, it did not all go according to plan. The two Tigers on site remained in the warmth of their hangar during the two days of my visit, the sun did not come out either, and flying activity was rather sparse.

Therefore I returned rather disappointed, but still, it was some nice days spent in the scenic surroundings of the Haslital.
